Re: Is this forum dead?
We'll see how it goes. The "official" launch for Photopia hasn't happened yet, so maybe that's part of the slow start. The other part of it is that many of the ProShow users from the ProShow Enthusiasts forum are still trying to decide if paying a subscription fee is worth making the switch.
More importantly, word of mouth is what helped get the ProShow Enthusiasts forum going. There was a Yahoo group prior to the Enthusiasts group, but it lacked organization and folks were looking for a resource they could rely on getting help at. Word spread quickly and the membership count grew fast along with activity. I think it will be a bit of a challenge making people aware of the new forum initially, but eventually I think they will come.
Photopia has it's own forum, but from what I've seen of it, other than copying some of the format from the ProShow Enthusiasts forum, I don't see anything that would attract me as an ongoing contributor. Right now that's where support will be provided by Photopia, but as the community grows I think most people will want a resource such as this forum to share ideas and really make the most of the software.
Time will tell, but I do appreciate your early support and hope that it's just the start of something bigger.
Thanks for posting!
Mike

Just to confirm that I keep looking in!
Hopefully once people start to get to grips and the bugs get sorted in Photopia the forum will become more active.

Hello Robert, ... I agree with Mike. Photopia has not had an "official" launch yet and is still not known to the general public. I suspect that when we revisit this thread in 6 months, it will be a totally different discussion. Keep the faith and hang in there !

Re: Is this forum dead?
Hopefully this forum isn't dead. There does seem to be a "launch" of sorts of Photopia, official or not. I am testing Creator as a replacement to ProShow Producer which I have used for several years. Hard to believe the company is shutting down, and why it just wasn't offered to new owners. As far as GUIs go, ProShow is much better than Photopia. What's really nice, though, is that Photopia (which sounds like a Disney ride) can read and import ProShow files, transitions and styles. Most other products cannot. Also, it allows JPEG, TIFF and PSD files which most others only allow JPEGs.
I will probably continue to use Producer as long as possible, but will also try to learn and recommend Photopia to other photographers. In March I am scheduled to talk about slideshow software to my local camera club here in Albuquerque NM. We have very active with over 300 members. I am in my 12th year and am currently the Club's treasurer. I have used ProShow to create more than 50 slideshows of varying lengths, all with music.
Let's hope Photopia begins to catch on and that they do their best to emulate the Photodex products.
Keeping fingers crossed,
Judson

Re: Is this forum dead?
I guess it IS dead! No activity at all, and I’m trying to figure Photopia out......I was working on a project in Proshow Producer, moved it over to Photopia, but it didn’t transfer exactly as it was put together in Proshow. Now I can’t access it in Proshow, so I have no choice but to try to make Photopia work.....hope there’s more activity here in the future!!
